So kids can make a difference in the world? Oh yes. But what can they do?

First – keep in touch with Kids Giving by following us on facebook.

Then, some ideas to get you going …

Organise a collection – choose a charity and organise a collection for it. Some young junior school girls felt strongly about the plight of the rhinoceros in South Africa and collected money (R5 from girls who were interested) at school to give to a charity working to save rhinos.

Raffle – Ask a business to donate a prize and raffle the prize (keep tickets affordable to children can use pocket money to pay e.g. R5 per ticket). Donate the money to your choice of charity.

Volunteer – Spend time at a place that cares about your cause. Do you like animals? Volunteer at the vet or the SPCA.

Cake sale – organise a cake sale at your school / church / neighbourhood and donate the profits to your charity of choice.

Art auction – ask your friends to paint pictures and sell them at an art auction, at school or your neighbourhood.

Neighbourhood market – ask children in your neighbourhood to make crafts or baked goods, then bring them to a central place (park or scout hall) and sell them (keep items small and relatively cheap, so children can spend their pocket money). Give the profits to the charity of your choice.

Most importantly, talk to your kids about these issues, make them aware.
