So you’re on this site because you’re interested in teaching your children about giving. But where do you start?

There are some useful resources on this site to help you get started. Depending on the age of your children, it’s good to have a conversation with them about philanthropy and what it means, in simple terms (some pointers here). Then think through them about the issues that concern them and would genuinely stir their interest. Do they like animals? or walking on the beach? or baking? or playing with other kids? There are plenty of opportunities for how we can all help others, and learn what it is to be part of a broader community.

Also talk to your children about how pocket money works (see some great resources here) and that dividing their money between saving, spending and giving can be a good start to understanding how a budget works.
