Kids Giving teaches kids about giving and connecting with other kids, as part of a larger community.

Despite differences, children have a way of making a connection, when given the chance. If you’ve ever been in a cross-cultural setting you will see how children manage to play happily together despite having different languages, backgrounds, or economic situations. Kids Giving teaches our kids that giving is an important part of being human.

We’re teaching kids that the choices they make, and the way they behave will determine their own future. Giving makes us happy, and promotes social co-operation and stronger social connections. Teaching children this lesson from a young age will be both good for them, and good for society.

We’re also keen to promote social entrepreneurship – teaching children to create, organise and manage ventures that have social impact. Tomorrow’s problems are going to be solved by tomorrow’s leaders – that’s our children. We need to teach them creative approaches to social entrepreneurship so that they can build a future they will be proud of.

We want to build in our children, the courage, imagination and desire to make the changes they want to see for themselves and their world – to be changemakers and giving citizens.

We also want to honour children who learn to give, as a way of life.

This Kids Giving movement was started by parents living in Cape Town, South Africa, and encourages children around the country to get human with others in their community.
