Kids are never too young to learn about giving. Little Sunshine Playschool in Mowbray hosts a “Bakers Day” every 2 weeks and the proceeds go to the Red Cross Children’s Hospital. Read the story below of Charmaine, who started this initiative at her playschool.
My absolute love and passion is working with children. How wonderful to be able to tell – and show – these precious children at Little Sunshine’s Playgroup that all the money we are collecting from our Bakers Day is going to the children in the hospital across the field from us. Being able to see the hospital with it’s big red cross helps them to understand that the money goes the children in the hospital.
Our children are so used to receiving so I feel it is important for them to know that there are many other children that really can do with our help no matter how big or small the contribution is – it’s the thought and follow through that counts!
We started with our Bakers Day this term and hold a class cake sale every second week.
This is just the beginning of what will hopefully be many years of Little Sunshine’s Playgroup Bakers Days – and donations to Red Cross Children’s Hospital.
